“When I got the scholarship, I was happy because I was finally able to fulfil my dream. I always dreamed of going to university but I never had enough money. The scholarship is a blessing. It is taking me beyond what I had imagined. When I got the scholarship, I knew I was going to do my best. There are challenges but I don’t let them be obstacles. I look at them as lessons and as directions for what I want to achieve.”

Chelia, South Sudanese refugee and UNHCR scholar studying Disaster Management, Conflict Resolution and Humanitarian Assistance at Masinde Muliro University, Kenya.

Donate now to ensure that refugee students can excel in their field.

The idea underpinning the UNHCR Refugee Scholarship Programme is simple. Talented, passionate students should be supported to thrive, pursue their dreams and become leaders in their fields of study and their communities.

The Scholarship Programme funds the full cost of tuition, accommodation and living expenses for talented young refugees to access university and technical skill training.

Please donate as much as you can to help more young scholars like Chelia achieve their dreams.

The Aiming Higher campaign aims to raise $23 million from companies, foundations and individuals by 2023 to provide 1,800 refugees with scholarships to secure their entire higher education.
